ABOUT BAYAMBANG

Bayambang is a 1st class municipality in the province of Pangasinan. This 402-year-old town commemorated its place in history as the fifth capital of the First Philippine Republic.

Bayambang is one of the flood free towns in the whole pangasinan. It is also, one of the center of education in pangasinan and nearby provinces-Unesco-accredited schools like Pangasinan State University and PSU Nursing Institute which produces top – quality professionals and tertiary hospital like Sto. Niño General Hospital and Bayambang District Hospital. The town is also the point of entry tarlac to pangasinan.

The town became the first pilot town in the Far East for the famed UNESCO National Community Training Center, making Bayambang an educational show window in the Philippines and in the Far East. Today, Bayambang remains not just the “cornbelt of Pangasinan” and “the onion capital of Pangasinan,” but also a bustling university town.

In history, Spanish colonizers noted that the area was near the Agno River and its land was conducive to farming. Five years later, it was accepted by the Provincial Chapter as one of the vicariates of the Dominican Order under the patronage of Saint Vincent Ferrer.
